Boeing Whistleblower John Barnett Found Dead Amid Depositions Against Plane Company

The Boeing Co. A prominent Boeing whistleblower, a former quality manager who raised concerns about manufacturing practices at the company's 787 plant in South Carolina, has been found dead.

Barnett sat for the depositions in his whistleblower's case before the Department of Labor Administrative Law Judges seeking reinstatement and back pay.

John Barnett worked for Boeing for more than 30 years before retiring in 2017. In the days before his death, he had been giving evidence in a case against The Boeing Co. that could have exposed serious safety concerns with the 787 Dreamliner jet.

John Mitchell Barnett, February 23, 1962-March 9, 2024, was an American whistleblower who was known for his substantiated safety and quality concerns at Boeing, which led to investigations by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation's Inspector General, and NASA.
