After back-to-back weekend matches, the Edmonton Oilers concluded their four-game road trip on a high note, earning their fourth win in a row with a resounding 6-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.
In a dominating performance, the Oilers controlled the pace and tempo of the game, peppering Penguins goaltender Tristan Jerry with 47 shots. Connor McDavid led the charge, notching a goal and two assists for a three-point night, while Darnell Nurse and newfound captain Zack Kassian each contributed a goal and an assist.
The Oilers' defense was equally impressive, anchored by goaltender Calvin Pickard, who recorded a flawless performance with 41 saves. Pickard's shutout marked the fourth time this season that he has blanked the opposition.
With the victory, the Oilers improve to 24-20-4 on the season, moving back into playoff contention. McDavid continues to lead the team in scoring with 27 goals and 51 points, while Nurse is tied for third in the NHL among defensemen with 20 assists.
